| Happy birthday, rositamia!! Have a wonderful day. | |
|
| My child has topped off her latest spurt of disobedience (and she's been on a streak, let me tell you... lying, screaming at us, arguing non-stop, you name it) with a 20 minute long screaming diatribe at me on the car ride home from dance class tonight. To add insult to injury, she hit both me and the hubby. On purpose and hard.
She has since had every single toy she owns evicted from her room. They're currently taking up space in our closet and garage. She will spend the rest of the week in her room, and if she is good, she'll earn a few toys back a day.
I really, really hope this gets through to her, because it's exhausting on us, too. But the temper tantrum tonight, topped by the hitting? Yeah. So totally enough.
Parenting. Isn't it fun??? *facepalms*

| My cats have no hunting instinct whatsoever.
See, we've got yet another mouse. We've been trying to trap it for the last couple of weeks, but it seems to get around the house by moving behind the cabinets and such.
Yesterday, it somehow managed to wander into our bathroom. I spotted it on the shelf below the medicine cabinet, and the husband and I tried to catch it. They're slippery little things. And fast. We'd caught it bunched up in one of our towels, and we went to transfer it to a bowl (with a lid) so we could get it out of the house. The husband fumbled the towel and the mouse jumped out to the floor and squiggled under the bathroom door into the bedroom.
Both of my cats were sitting right outside the door. Neither of them even saw it come out, much less what direction it went in. *facepalms* It's a good thing they're cute because they suck as mousers.

| Upon further research, it appears my symptoms seem to fit peroneal tendonitis, which is actually not all that surprising. I've only been in my new orthotics for about a month and a half, and previous to that time, I was walking more on the outside edge of my foot due to problems with one of the sesamoid bones in my big toe, that has since been removed. Icing and wrapping it for the day seem to help quite a bit, so we'll see how it does. I suspect I might need to do this for a couple of weeks, and then if it doesn't get any better, I'll go see my foot doctor. | |
|
| I've done something to my ankle, but I have no idea what. The outside of my right ankle is swollen around the ankle bone and underneath and to the front of it. It hurts just under and tot he back of the ankle bone in general and when I stand for too long, and it hurts when I press down on the section of my foot that is just to the front of the ankle bone.
Anybody have any thoughts?
I didn't injure it, drop anything on it, twist it, nothing. I'm confused.

| Also, a meme stolen from brynwulf and deirdre_c: The Rules 1. You can ONLY answer 'Yes' or 'No'. 2. You are NOT ALLOWED to explain ANYTHING unless someone messages or comments you and asks—and, believe me, the temptation to explain some of these will be overwhelming. Nothing is exactly as it seems. | I swear, they thought up things like the tooth fairy just to drive parents nuts.
Miss Roo lost her first baby tooth at school today. Trying to slip into her room (with creaky floorboards), slide money in and pull the tooth out from under her pillow while she's sleeping, and rolling over at the same time? What a pain in the butt. Yay for hubby, who managed to actually find the damned tooth. *laugh*
In the meantime, Roo had to call all her grandparents to let them know all about her tooth. *g*

| Lots of writers talk about having an internal critic - that little voice inside your head that says your writing sucks, and so on. I've never had one of these, as far as I can tell. Oh, I don't always like what I've written, but it's never been anything more than that.
I've been on a weird sort of hiatus for the past, gods, nearly two years now. I'm starting to get words again, and suddenly, I have that internal critic. Everything I put down on paper sounds crappy to me.
*grumbles*
This is very annoying. | |

| FYI... I have 5 3 dreamwidth codes, if anyone needs one. | |
|
| As I'm unlikely to be online much tomorrow, happy birthday, [Bad username: maygra"]! I hope you have a fabulous day. :) | |
|
| First off, I am Eponin on Dreamwidth. :) Thanks to amalthia for the invite! Second, I made a friends cut today. Nothing personal, I just haven't been online a lot for awhile, and I've gotten incredibly busy. Mostly I pared down to people I speak to often, or who are still in the same fandom(s) I am in. If you feel I've cut you and shouldn't have, feel free to comment here. As always, feel free to defriend me back. | |

| So, my cats suck as mousers.
We have a mouse. He (or she) tends to hang out underneath the stove, which prompts my cats to settle in the kitchen, staring very intently at the opening near the floor.
Last night, while both cats were near me on the couch, the mouse streaks out from under the couch, runs under the coffee table, under the tv table, and behind the DVD rack in the living room. It then speeds off around the corner, into the kitchen and back under the stove.
My cats? They slept through the whole thing.

In added fail, it turns out my sister gave herself food poisoning. My dad has been down visiting for the last two weeks or so. He made a shepherd's pie (corn, mashed potatoes and ground beef, for those of you who don't know what that is) and left it in the fridge for her before he left. She didn't notice, and comments to dad on the phone this past weekend that she had just noticed it int he fridge. Dad, of course, tells her to check it, as it's probably not good anymore. My sister? Yeah, she just ate it.
*more facepalms*
In better news, everyone in my house is finally healthy. I'm over the bronchitis-like cold I ended up with and Roo's stomach bug has gone away.
